Officers are being tight-lipped about an incident Tuesday morning that led to a section of Hwy. 15 North near Cotton Plant being closed.
Unconfirmed reports said that officers were pursuing a subject in the Blue Mountain area near Hwy. 2 and then Hwy. 15.
WTVA quoted Trooper Joey Miller as confirming a pursuit, but nothing more.
The pursuit moved south, apparently ending north of Cotton Plant and it was also reported that shots were fired at the fleeing vehicle in an attempt to stop it.
Traffic was detoured around the area for nearly three hours and WTVA also reported that later an SUV with front damage was being transported toward town followed by MHP vehicles.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has provided no more information at this time about the status of the subject or the investigation.
