City Beautification
June 16, 2015
Members present were Laura Dunnam, Jean Ashcraft, Sandy Shaddinger, Christy Livingston, and Vickie Duke.
Laura called the meeting to order.
Sign Project:
An ordered has been placed for stops signs. As soon as they come in signs will be installed.
City Beautification Awards:
The following City Beautification Awards were decided. July – Nancy Houston & August – Carolyn Houston
Building Lights:
The committee discussed the problems we are having with the bulbs and the clips keeping the building lights on. Christy made a motion to spend up to $6,000 replacing the clips and changing the bulbs to LED’s. Sandy seconded the motion. The motion carried.
New Business:
City Beautification has received a request from Dogwood Hills Garden Club for a service project to plant downtown planters that are empty. Dogwood Hills has contacted these businesses about doing this service project. Jean made a motion to approve $250 to the Dogwood Hills Garden Club for this service project. Sandy seconded the motion. The motion carried.
A request to beautify the corner of Glade & Apple street has been made this is on the corner of the New Albany Middle School. This is a heavy traffic area since the gym is used by the middle school and high school. Laura asks you to take a few minutes to look at this area. It will be discussed at our next meeting.
The next meeting will be July 21 at 9:00 a.m.
