County officials held a retirement barbecue for Larry Jarvis in the circuit courtroom Monday. Jarvis is retiring this week as 20 years.
While his job was ostensibly maintenance, his duties were so diverse as to defy categorization. Whenever any county official or employee needed anything done it a a case of “I’ll call Larry.” He has been working for every single county department.
Those attending included friends, family and county officials and staff going back those 30 years.
In addition to the barbecue luncheon and desserts, friends and coworkers presented him with several gifts and signs – some serious and some not so serious.
Jarvis said he has no plans other than to enjoy his retirement.employment, Larry Jarvis, maintenance, New Albany, Northeast Mississippi, reception, retirement, Union County
