Gun store burglary suspect arrested, arraigned on burglary charges

New Albany, MS – One suspect in the June 5th burglary of a downtown New Albany firearms store has been arrested in Memphis and returned to New Albany for prosecution.

Dontravius Adams, age 27, was arrested in Memphis and brought back to New Albany. He was arraigned in Union County Justice Court on multiple burglary charges.

Adams, who is 6 ft. 5 inches tall and weighs 300 pounds, gave a home address of 3044 Emerald St. in Memphis. Court papers say Adams was born in New Jersey.

Adams was captured in Memphis by the Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshalls Service and officers of the Memphis Police Department gang unit.

He was returned to New Albany by officers of the New Albany Police Department (NAPD).

Multiple law enforcement organizations are still seeking to arrest Lederrius Brown and Anthony Ailsworth, believed to have been accomplices of Adams.

Union County Justice Court warrants have been issued for the arrest Brown and Ailsworth, both of whom are also believed to be from Memphis.

Adams, Brown and Ailsworth are suspects in the 3:30 a.m., June 5th, burglary of 2A Armaments on Bankhead St.

An alert citizen spotted the burglary in progress and called 911. The suspects fled New Albany with NAPD and other law enforcement organizations in pursuit on Interstate 22 toward Memphis.

The suspect vehicle was successfully stopped at Holly Springs using a device that punctured its tires. However, the suspects fled on foot and were not immediately captured.

Anthony Ailsworth

Adams, Brown and Ailsworth are also suspected in the theft of a safe from the Pure Service Station at the intersection of Highway 15 and Bankhead St., which occurred shortly before the 2A Armaments Burglary.

NAPD Chief Chris Robertson said the safe from Pure and guns from 2A Armaments were recovered from the suspect vehicle that was stopped in Holly Springs early June 5th.

Robertson said he is hopeful additional arrests in the two burglaries will be made soon.
