Jack’s restaurant coming to New Albany

Although it is not entirely official, it looks like Jack’s is coming to New Albany.

Rumors have been circulating for some time but no official plans have been filed with the city yet. They have been looking at preliminary site studies, however.

The location is on Hwy. 30 West, just past the Hwy. 30-West Bankhead Street intersection. Just northeast of the BNA Bank branch. Walton’s Greenhouse has stored portable buildings there in the past.

Jack’s was founded in 1960 in Homewood, Ala. as a walk-up hamburger, shake and fries restaurant.

They feature made-from-scratch biscuits, hand-breaded chicken, bigger burgers and hand-scooped shakes and promote the idea of Southern hospitality.

They have more than 145 locations in Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia. Nearby Jack’s are in Amory, Tupelo and Corinth.

Also, there are unconfirmed rumors that a restaurant specializing in Cajun food may be considering opening in New Albany, but there has been no official notice according to city officials.

The proposed site seen from Hwy. 30, looking west toward the Walton’s Greenhouse building.
