New Albany – James “Pappy” Carl Martin, 63, passed away July 3, 2022 at his residence in New Albany, MS. Carl was born to the late Kent and Anna Bell Martin on October 16, 1958 in Ripley, MS.
A great man is an understatement. He was hardworking and dedicated in everything he done. He worked at Piper Impact for many years. In this time he met and married his wife Betsy in August of 1986. Carl shortly joined North Haven Fire Dept. where he served up until his final days making many great friends that he considered family. He was also a member of the Mississippi Firefighters Association. He later began a career in truck driving, traveling all over with some of his grandchildren. Cooking was one of his many passions. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He loved to spend days on the lake relaxing, fishing and making memories.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Anna Bell Linville Martin; one son, Wayne Robinson and a nephew, Josh Martin.
Carl is survived by his wife, Betsy Martin of New Albany; a daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Yarbrough and a son, Gary (Casey) Robinson; a sister, Becky Ralph (Steve) one brother, Rickey Martin (Ginger) of Ripley; five grandchildren: Faith, Cydnie, Benjamin, Kathleen, Jonathan (Selena); thirteen great grandchildren; four nieces and two great nieces.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 11:00a.m. until service time at 2:00p.m. at United Funeral Service with Bro. Mitchell Hall officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements and will fly the Firefighters flag during his visitation and funeral service.
