Kiwanis Club donates $19,000 for Alabama Street Park renovation project

The New Albany Kiwanis Club has donated $19,000 to help restore and provide playground equipment for the Alabama Street Park.

The city has received a grant that will pay for part of the project and the Kiwanis donation will help with the needed local matching amount.

The equipment has been ordered and coordinator Tracy Vainisi hopes to have it here in a month or so.

“Being the president and face of a civic club, I couldn’t be more proud to accomplish such a task with some brilliant individuals who truly stand for ‘serving the children of the world’ which is our Kiwanis motto,” Marquel Connor said. “This donation toward the Alabama Street Park will stand for years and years to come and I’m glad to know I was a part of a special crew that helped to play a huge role the matter of children having a safe place to play. May this unexpected donation be of profound blessings.”

This is the type of playground equipment that will be added to the park.
