New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said Galloway attacked and briefly held captive a man on Shady Grove Road in north New Albany at about 9 a.m. Thursday morning, Oct 17.
Galloway struck the man in the head with a claw hammer and then held the victim at knife point before finally leaving the house.

Robertson said Galloway, a native of Union County, has a history of mental health issues and long record of incidents with law enforcement. He had been living with the man he attacked.

Residents should be cautious of opening their doors to people they do not know.

The man Galloway struck with the hammer was treated at the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was not believed to have life threatening injuries.

Galloway faces charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping.

It is believed Galloway may be traveling on foot and does not have a motor vehicle.
