Tupelo- Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson released a statement on Wednesday saying “With more and more of our restaurants limiting their dining room access, it is becoming harder for our truck driving friends to find places to eat. We will be glad to pick something up for you.” Since most drive-thrus do not accommodate 18 wheelers truck drivers have few options to feed themselves.

Johnson said that although the department has taken measures to limit access to the Sheriff’s Department, they are still working at full power to protect the citizens of Lee County.  This service will be available as long as the department has the manpower. Johnson told truckers that “If we cannot assist, we can secure someone that can.”

Truck drivers needing to take time off the road in Lee County and need help getting food can call the Sheriff’s Office at: 662-680-5766 or 662-841-9040.
