About the case count: The MS Department of Health currently updates its map and statistics each morning with test results from the previous day. Outside laboratories also report positive test results, which are included the totals.

Mississippi statistics

The Mississippi Department of Health reports that of 6 PM March 26, 2020, Mississippi has 579 positive cases of Covid-19 and 8 deaths. This includes 94 newly reported cases and 2 deaths recorded since yesterday’s report.

Total individuals tested for COVID-19 by the MSDH Public Health Laboratory: 3,139
As of March 26, 2020. Does not include testing done by outside providers.

Nationwide statistics: the US is now number one in confirmed cases

As of Thursday, March 26, the United States, with at least 18,321 cases and over 1000 deaths, officially surpassed Italy, Spain and China to become the epicenter of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. The US now has more positive cases of Covid-19 than Italy, Spain or China. The Johns Hopkins tracking project, as of 10:55 AM today lists the US with 86,102 confirmed cases.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updates reports nationwide cases of COVID-19 at noon Mondays through Fridays. Numbers close out at 4 p.m. the day before reporting. NEMiss.NEWS will update the figures below when information is available today from the CDC.
