MS First District Congressional Art contest winners named

2019 congressional art competition

U.S. Congressman Trent Kelly (MS-01) is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 Congressional Artistic Discovery Contest. Winners were selected from more than 100 entries that were submitted by students living in the 22 counties that make up the First Congressional District.

The winners are:

1st place – Skylar Sloan, a Saltillo High School senior
2nd place – Sidnie Hunt, a Winston Academy senior
3rd place – Annie Simpson, a Ripley High School sophomore
4th place – Reagan Hall, a Ripley High School sophomore
5th place – Ellis McBride, a Ripley High School sophomore
6th place – Katie Beth Wadkins, a Corinth home-schooled senior

The annual competition is sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives. Winners from across America will be honored during a reception to be held in Washington, D.C. in June. The first place winner’s artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with other winners from across our nation. The additional winner’s artwork will be displayed in our field offices located in Farmington, Tupelo, Columbus, Hernando, and Eupora. Representative Trent Kelly represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves on the House Committee on Armed Services, the House Committee on Agriculture, and the House Committee on Small Business. This is his third term.
