Students in Tracy Vainisi’s first and sixth period EXCEL classes and Jonna Rogers’ Life Skills students serve as New Albany Middle School Youth Gardeners and are sponsored by the New Albany Garden Club.

These students recently worked together on a garden therapy project to create Christmas swags for Dogwood Assisted Living Facility.

Carrie Rogers, Vice President of New Albany Garden Club, spoke on the design of the swags and taught them how to make bows. Students learned about coniferous vs deciduous trees and foods provided for migrating birds, as well as the benefits of garden therapy.
