New Albany School District recently announced the launch of AMPLIFY: Bringing STEM to Life, the energy concentration of the school’s IMPACTO career readiness program. AMPLIFY will give students the opportunity for real-life exposure to careers in the energy field, with the specific focus on energy engineering, sustainability, and efficiency.
For this endeavor, the district is partnering with energy and sustainability expert, Schneider Electric, to bring hands-on learning experience to students through local projects and opportunities. The district first partnered with the company in 2012 to help solve critical mechanical needs, to improve comfort and efficiency, and to set the District up for long-term, sustainable energy savings and financial success. This efficiency and modernization project saved the district over $1 million in energy and operations costs.
In its pilot phase, AMPLIFY will focus on STEM paths and the energy field. Students will virtually shadow an array of engineers who work in this field every day.
“We are pleased to partner with Schneider Electric for our career awareness and career readiness projects,” said Dr. Lance Evans, Superintendent of New Albany School District. “Energy is one of the career sectors in our region that has the promise to provide future jobs for our students. It is important that we give our students the resources to explore careers in energy.”
