BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Just because the calendar has turned to autumn does not mean that Northeast Mississippi Community College’s state-of-the-art baseball facility will sit idly with nothing taking place.
The Tigers are hosting their annual fall showcase on Sunday, September 12 and the popular Hitting Under the Lights camp during the month of October at the “Field of Dreams” complex.
Pre-registration for the showcase is available through Friday, September 10 at a cost of $75. Walk-ups will be accepted beginning at noon on the day of the event with the price increasing to $85.
The showcase is open to all athletes in grades 9-12. It includes a pro style workout, an opportunity for each pitcher to throw from the mound plus a round of batting practice.
Hitting Under the Lights has been offered at Northeast for several years. It is a specialized camp that focuses solely on the offensive aspects and philosophies of America’s pastime.
It meets for approximately two hours beginning at 6 p.m. each Monday night in October starting on the 4th. This event is limited to the first 50 applicants in grades 7-12 for $100.
Entrants are expected to bring their own gear such as tennis or turf shoes, a helmet, a hat, gloves, catching gear and a bat as applicable. Each camp will include an emphasis on the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship as well.
