No new information in homicide investigation

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said Monday that he still cannot release any information concerning the investigation into an apparent homicide this past week.

Deputies found the body Friday morning of a woman who appeared to have been shot outside a residence on County Road 225 in the Alpine community in the eastern part of the county.

The victim has not been publicly identified and the sheriff did not say when he would be able to release more information.

State investigators were called in to aid in the investigation.
