Shirley K Lusk, 89

Blue Springs – Shirley K Lusk, 89, passed away peacefully January 11,2021 Baptist Memorial Hospital- Union County in New Albany, MS.
She was proceeded in death by her late parents Odis and Alice Sprouse; and by her late husband Orvice A. Lusk. She is survived by her sister Shelby Jean Gullick and brother Jimmy and wife Diane Sprouse-deceased, both of Blue Springs, Mississippi. She is also survived by daughter Patty Lusk Gay of Yorktown, Va. and son Larry D. Lusk and wife Patty Lusk of Va. Beach, Va. She has three grandsons; Christopher Gay, Matthew Lusk, and David Lusk, along with three great granddaughters – Hazel, Autumn, and Virginia Lusk; and one great grandson Taylor Lusk. She is also survived by loving and close nephews and nieces –James and Sharon Hogue, Wayne Hogue, Shirley and Dale Skelton, Anthony and Christy Davis and Stoni and Melissa Sprouse.
Shirley enjoyed sports and was an exceptional Mississippi High School Basketball Player. Soon after graduation, she married Air Force Serviceman Orvice A. Lusk of West Virginia; and together they were stationed in England, then South Carolina, California, Hawaii, and finally Langley Air Force Base Hampton, Va. Bowling in Air Force and city leagues became Orvice and Kathleen’s enjoyed recreational hobby for years; and also enjoyed playing pinochle with several Air Force friends from dad’s squadron.
Shirley K Lusk remained in Hampton, Va. for approximately fourteen years after husband Orvice Lusk passed away. She was employed for years at Maida Development Company before retiring to return to her roots; Blue Springs, Miss. Shirley Lusk was a proud member of New Harmony Baptist Church, and enjoyed her many Sunday school friends, and was especially fond of Pastor Kevin Williams and his family. Son Larry D Lusk, and daughter Patty Lusk Gay would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the countless prayers, thoughtfulness, and outpouring of love shown by close family, and her Blue Springs friends over the past several years.
Graveside services will be at 11:00a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at New Harmony Cemetery in Blue Springs with Bro. Kevin Williams officiating. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
The family would kindly ask that any donations gifted, be sent directly to New Harmony Baptist Church in Shirley Kathleen Lusk’s honor.
