Wallace Russell Gillen, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, July 23, 2022.  Russell was born June 19th, 1933, to Grover Lavern Gillen and Annie Jeanette Russell.  Russell joined the Navy when he was 15 years old.  He served his country for 23 years.  He had several different careers after the military.  He was a manager at Farrell Calhoun paint store in Memphis, Tennessee.  He was an EMT at Pontotoc Hospital,, worked in several supermarkets beginning with Foodway and Piggly Wiggly.  Russell enjoyed his family and spending time outside.

Russell is survived by his wife, Betty Gillen; a daughter, Cindy Johnson; three sons, Glenn (Angie), Daniel (Sharon), and Adrian (Kristy); grandchildren, Maggie (Mitch) Malone, Ashley (Todd) Weaver, Logan Johnson, Amber (Alex) Sims,  Aaron (McKayla) Gillen, Lauren (Chris) Bledsoe, and Jared, Isabelle, and Sarah Gillen; great grandchildren, Weston and Grayson Weaver, Fynley Gilllen, Chloe, Hailey, and Brice Johnson, and Maverick and Macie Malone.  He has 2 great grandchildren on the way.  He has one brother, Jerry Gillen from Pontotoc; two sisters, Delinda Sue Cannon, and Anita (Jimmy) Boyd.  Extended family Rosa Turner, Elder Reyes, Samuel and Samantha Aguiler.  He also had several step-children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Patricia (Pat) Gillen, and one great grandson, Hunter Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Glenfield Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Scotty Bland, with burial following in Glenfield Memorial Park.  Pall bearers will be Chris Bledsoe, Aaron Gillen, Todd Weaver, Logan Johnson, and Alex Sims.  The visitation will go from 1:00 P. M. until 3:00 P. M. on Tuesday.
