June 30th, 2020     Government & Politics

All governmental offices will be closed Friday to observe the legal holiday for Independence Day, which falls on Saturday.

Solid-waste collection in Union County outside the city limits will not be affected and garbage will be picked up Friday as usual.

The city solid-waste collection schedule will change, however.

Due to the holiday closing, both the normal Thursday and Friday routes will be picked up on Thursday, July 2.

Most businesses will be open Friday but some take the July 4 weekend to close and give employees a vacation.

The sale or use of fireworks inside the city limits is illegal unless a one-time permit is obtained from aldermen for a city event.
