Pioneer Railcorp changes name to Pioneer Lines

Pioneer Railcorp announced, effective this week, it has changed its name to Pioneer Lines. The new “Pioneer Lines” name emphasizes not only its growth as a company but its long-term vision—to provide new lines of business and connections for Pioneer’s customers. The company currently owns and operates 15 railroads including the Ripley and New Albany Railroad and provides railroad-related services such as transloading, switching and storage. The acquisition of railroads and other assets and associated industrial development is a primary focus of Pioneer Lines as it seeks to expand its presence across the U.S. This announcement coincides with the celebration of 35 years in business since the company was founded. While the name has changed, the personalized and flexible service that customers have come to trust and expect remains the cornerstone of Pioneer’s business.

“The new name — Pioneer Lines — reflects the modernization of the company and our efforts to broaden our business objectives,” said Alex Yeros, CEO of Pioneer Lines. “As a company with its roots in rail freight, our team is proud of the role we have played over the last three decades in bringing economic vitality to the local communities in which we operate. We are focused on growing our presence across the U.S. by leveraging the deep rail and real estate expertise of our team to provide new and existing customers with additional connections to domestic and global markets. Our aim is to inspire our customers and communities to reach farther and provide them with the right connections to do so.”

The new name comes nearly two years following the acquisition of Pioneer Railcorp by BRX Transportation Holdings, LLC. In the months following the acquisition, a new executive team comprised of rail, real estate and trade experts came together with the aim of refreshing the decades-old company. This included developing new management processes; adopting metrics that measure efficiency, safety and customer engagement; deep analysis of current and prospective customers to better understand shippers’ businesses and needs; and an increased commitment to rebuilding lines and relationships. This has resulted in considerable growth for the company, adding a new freight customer per month on average.

Along with the new name, Pioneer Lines redesigned its company logo and will unveil logos for each of its railroads throughout the year, which will pay homage to their history and connection to the local community.
